Wouldn't recommend
I bought this in a size 7 for my 6 year old- the crotch area is so narrow that it exposes my child. Unfortunately, we had removed the tags so ended up tossing it

Cute but fit of
My daughter is nearly 8 and only 45lbs, average height . The 8 was way too big and the 7 fit ok besides the butt area, it was really baggy. We are going to try the size 6 and see what happens because she does really like the looks of the swimsuit
